One more from Dun Laoghaire

Dun Laoghaire = "Dun Leary" (For the Gaelic inept like myself)

Why did I want to go back to Dublin again?

Ah, yes. I remember now...

British Airways - Star Trek

So, after U.S. Airways gave us the boot, the only thing we were truly bummed about was not being able to watch Star Trek. BA was NOT showing it according to their pamphlet, but, once on board, the stewardess made an announcement informing us that, unfortunately, we would not be viewing the scheduled movie and that she had secured Star Trek instead and hoped this would be suitable. WIN.

British Airways

After a door malfunction on U.S. Airways, we were given the boot. Thanks to extreme optimism in the form of hopes of a free hotel stay/meals we landed some pretty lush seats aboard British Airways (What can I say - I have little pride at times - I mean, my roommate and I coined 2009 "The Year of the Mooch"). Anyway, here is the free shit we recieved: pillow, blanket, sleep mask, earplugs, headphones, travel toothbrush with a tiny one use toothpaste that fit nicely inside it, pen, unlimited alcohol, two huge meals, worcester pretzels (mmm!!), and other things as well but past a certain point I was too bloated and drunk to have any solid cognitive perceptions of my surroundings. So it goes.

In this photo you'll note my veg friendly tortellini w/spinach, salad, dinner roll, cheesecake, chocolate treat, water, wine, and the coffee cup that would soon be filled w/coffee + cognac had I been able to fit anything else into my body. My friend Ricky took up the steward, however, and gave it the thumbs up.

Further Piggin' Out

I wasn't kidding. I had a massive feast.

Piggin' Out

I completely pigged out at Dickey's BBQ while waiting for my friends to arrive at the airport. I ended up chatting with a 'cool mom' who's son spent the past year in spain and is now 'trying out the whole nyc deal' as she told me with a snort. She shook her head and said with a mixture of amusement and contempt, "You little shits.....you've really got it made". And it's true, youth is invaluable. Even at twenty-two I feel heart pangs when I remember all the nights spent at punk rock shows in Deep Ellum...

DFW Airport

A photo my dad took prior to my tumultuous day of travel. Why my father deemed it necessary for me to be in this spot I'll never know. You're just going to have to trust me that I'm actually at an airport and not outside a strip mall.

Cake from Mom FTW

Your guess is as good as mine as to why my name is written across this heart shaped cake, but it's cute as hell and absolutely delicious. Moms, gosh :)

A classy little Fourth of July shindig

One of those days that was at once mega-epic and extremely embarrassing. The possibilities for antagonizing Bobby while he had to work became exponentially greater once everyone realized my name is in amERICA. I'm really going to miss these crazy kids once the travels begin!
